FAQs
BUYING PROCESS & PAPERWORK
What do I need to bring when buying a car from Immense Motors?
You'll need a valid form of photo ID (such as a driving licence or passport), proof of address (a recent utility bill or bank statement), and your payment method. If you're part-exchanging your current car, bring the V5C logbook, any service history, and both sets of keys.
How do I know the car I'm buying is genuine and not stolen?
Every car we sell is HPI checked before going on sale. This confirms the vehicle is not stolen, has no outstanding finance, has not been written off, and that the mileage is consistent. You can ask to see the HPI certificate for any car on our forecourt.
Can I take the car for a test drive before buying?
Yes, absolutely. We encourage all customers to test drive before they commit. You'll need a valid driving licence to drive the vehicle.
Do I get any documentation when I buy a car?
Yes. You will receive a receipt confirming the sale, and a V5C/2 new keeper slip, a valid MOT certificate where applicable, and any service history that comes with the vehicle.
How do I register the car in my name?
When you buy the car Immense Motors will notify the DVLA of the change of ownership using the V5C logbook. You can also do this online at gov.uk/change-name-address-v5c. Road tax is not transferred with the vehicle — you must arrange your own from the date of purchase.
WARRANTIES & CONSUMER RIGHTS
Do used cars from Immense Motors come with a warranty?
All our vehicles come with a warranty — this will be clearly stated at the point of sale. The length and coverage of the warranty varies by vehicle. Please ask a member of our team for full details on any specific car you are interested in.
What are my rights if something goes wrong after I buy a car?
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if a fault becomes apparent within 30 days of purchase, you are entitled to a full refund. Between 30 days and 6 months, you are entitled to a free repair or replacement. After 6 months, the burden of proof shifts, meaning you would need to demonstrate the fault existed at the time of sale. We always aim to resolve any issues fairly and promptly.
What if the car develops a fault shortly after I buy it?
Please contact us as soon as possible. Do not ignore a warning light or fault, as driving with a known fault could affect your rights. We will assess the issue and work with you to find a resolution in line with your consumer rights and any warranty that applies.
Does a used car come with an MOT?
We aim to sell cars with a minimum of 6 months MOT remaining. The exact MOT expiry date will be shown on the vehicle listing and confirmed at the point of sale. You can also check any MOT history for free at gov.uk/check-mot-history using the vehicle registration number.
Am I covered if I buy a car and it turns out to have outstanding finance on it?
This is why we carry out HPI checks on all our vehicles before sale. If a vehicle is sold with undisclosed outstanding finance that we were unaware of, we will work with you to resolve the matter. We recommend all buyers check the HPI status of any used car before purchasing, regardless of where they buy from.
